God has already delivered victory for NPP – Balado

The Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South, Stephen Balado Manu has said God’s miraculous deed at the Baba Yara Stadium and its environs in Kumasi is a great testimony to the fact that the Lord has already granted the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) victory in the upcoming December election.

He said God in his wondrous best ensured that the Baba Yara stadium and its environs which was the venue for the NPP Thanksgiving service on Sunday was without rain fall which would have disrupted the party’s programme that was held there but surprisingly several other towns dotted around the stadium witnessed heavy rainfall.

The NPP on Sunday organized a mammoth prayer session to seek the face of the Lord as the party readies itself for the impending general election which promises to be keenly contested between the main opposition NPP and the ruling NDC party.

The event brought together leading members of the party including ex President Agyekum Kufour, Chairman of the NPP, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey and NPP Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo among a host of hundreds of supporters.

Speaking on Oman FM Monday, Hon. Balado Manu stated that the NPP as a party is mindful of the need to seek the face of the Lord, and ask for his blessings and directions as the task ahead is not easy and required the help of God.

He contended that the NDC with its poor showing in government and bad governance style has resulted in the worsening living conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian, a situation he said could not be countenanced hence the need to vote out the NDC government.

Hon. Balado Manu noted that the NPP is poised to assume power and bring the economy back on track to alleviate the economic hardship facing Ghanaians, adding that the NPP has the track record in government to achieve such feat.

Joe Ghartey launches re-election bid

Mr Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan on Sunday launched his re-election bid to represent the area on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) amid music and fanfare.

Speaking at the function, Papa Owusu Ankomah, MP for Sekondi, said the NPP is poised to win the December 7 General Election.

He said support for the party is growing as the election approaches and asked the people to translate their interest in the NPP into votes.

Mr Kwesi Biney, Western Regional first Vice Chairman of the NPP said the party is serious about implementing free Senior High School education when voted into power.

He said there is no reason why the NPP cannot implement free SHS education if the country has been able to implement National Health Insurance Scheme.

Mr Biney said the NPP is pushing for free SHS education so that more people could pursue higher education and technological skills training.

Nkwanta North seat will remain an NPP seat in Volta Region – MP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North, Joseph Kwaku Nayan has expressed confidence of retaining his seat by winning with a margin of over 3,000 votes in the upcoming 2012 election.

He said as the only NPP MP out of the 22 MPs in the Volta Region he is poised and committed to preserving his seat for currently the largest opposition party in the country.

Speaking to Ghanamps.gov.gh, Hon Joseph Nayan stated that he together with his campaign team have resolved to keep the Nkwanta North seat for the NPP by campaigning feverishly and selling his vision to the electorates to buy into it and vote him to continue with his good works in the constituency.

He said the ruling NDC party has tried severally to sweep all the parliamentary seats in the region including the Nkwanta North seat but added that he remained resolute in his determination to reclaim his seat.

Hon. Nayan indicated that he has worked hard to provide the constituency with basic social amenities and infrastructure such as roads, schools, markets among others, a situation he asserted was not the case when the area fell under the Nkwanta District in 2004.

He noted that his efficient work as the MP for the area in the past years has endeared him to the electorates who have also resolved to retain in power.

BNI operative harasses Jaman South MP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Jaman South, Yaw Maama Afful has accused the District Chief Executive of Jaman South Julius Atta Bediako of causing an Operative of the Bureau of National Investigation(BNI) to harass him.

He said the DCE has quite recently tasked the BNI operative in Drobo to threaten and embarrass him unjustifiably, a move he suspects to be politically motivated and intended to cow him into submission and scuttle his chances will boosting the chances of his competitor at the December polls.

The Businessman turn politician was speaking on Adom FM’s Dea Mehu yi programme on Wednesday on his campaign activities and what his chances are in the upcoming December Parliamentary elections.

The MP who goes into battle with the one-time spokes person of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) Junta and NDC parliamentary candidate for Jaman South, Osahene Boakye Djan said he is not the least daunted by the completion from Boakye Djan.

He said his delivery of a lot of developmental projects in the Districts and his respect for his constituents and humble nature has endeared him to the electorates who are keen on rewarding him by voting massively to retain him as MP for the area.

All efforts to reach the DCE for the area to state his side of the allegation made against him have proved futile.

Fallout from collapse of Melcom shop, Okaikoi North MP to pursue case

The Member of Parliament for Okaikoi North Elizabeth Sackey, has emphasized the need for building inspectors of the various District Assemblies across the country who shirk their responsibility to be punished to serve as a deterrent to other such officials.

She said such dereliction of duty on the part of such officials of the assemblies has resulted in sub-standard buildings collapsing and in the process causing needless deaths and robbing the country of its otherwise good human resource.

The MP was speaking following the collapse of the multi-storey building that housed the Achimota branch of the Melcom shop which in its wake resulted in the death of about six people while dozens of victims were rescued from the debris.

Hon. Elizabeth Sackey who is the MP for the area felt very disheartened and sympathized with the families of the victims of the tragedy that happened, adding that this could have been avoided if officials did their work efficiently.

She stated that her checks indicate the collapsed building did not a building the permit and was surprised as to how the building was allowed to stand when indeed it should not have.

Hon. Sackey noted that it was important for developers of such properties to obtain building permit and for the assemblies to constantly monitor the building of such structures so that defects can be detected before it claims innocent lives.

She vowed to pursue the unfortunate incident and ensure that the culprits are brought to book as such carelessness on the part of state officials would not be countenanced.

Local Airline industry to receive major boost – Dauda

The Minister of Transport, Collins Daudu has said the airline industry in Ghana especially the domestic sector is expected to soon experience a major boost as government takes steps build an ultra modern offices to house all the local airline companies in the country.

According to him, the move is to create a one stop assembling place for passengers who patronize the local airlines to check their travelling arrangement and other information.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme on Wednesday, Hon. Collins Dauda stated that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government is committed to growing the local airline sector by ensuring the necessary support and infrastructure are put in place.

He said the government has also approved funds for the construction of runways at the Kumasi and Sunyani airports to ensure a more efficient and safer air travel in the country.

The issue of damaged runway at the Kumasi Airport became very topical in the media as the Ghana Airport Company announced a closure of the airport much to the displeasure of passengers, but was later rehabilitated to enable the planes to resume business.

However Hon. Collins Dauda who is also the Member of Parliament for Asutifi South noted that such unfortunate occurrence would be a thing of the past following the construction of the runways.

He added that plans are far advanced to illuminate the Kumasi Airport to enable planes to flight in and out of Kumasi which is the busiest local route.

Walewale MP: Nana Addo lacks the requisite skills to handle Ghana

The NDC Member of Parliament for Walewale in the Northern Region, Hon. Iddrisu Zakari Alidu has appealed to legitimate voters not to make the irreversible mistake of voting for Nana Akufo-Addo in the upcoming elections, since he lacks the requisite experience to manage Ghana when given the mandate.

The renowned educationist was of a firm conviction that the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), had never stepped in and played any managerial role in this country considering the roles he has endeavored in his political career.

“Nana Addo has never sat in as a president and we are viewing this issue and giving the spare driver (President Mahama) a chance”, he emphasized.

Hon. Iddrisu Zakari Alidu, likened Nana Addo to a “driver-mate” an accolade he explained to mean “someone who has never stepped in the corridors of leadership”.

Speaking on Radio Gold, the MP for Walewale stated that though Nana Addo’s running mate hailed from the same region President Mahama comes from, tradition demanded of them to vote for the president.

“Let’s take it that our brother (Dr. Bawumia) is a running mate to Nana Addo, but the other brother who is John Mahama, is a presidential candidate for a party…and I believe that you also know how we run our politics in Ghana, when your mother is in the kitchen, you get the food to eat…and as the president being from the Northern Region, we are nearer the food than the vice president”, he stated.

Minority Leader rally supporters for NPP electoral victory

Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader, has urged supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to reach out to voters and assist them to have better understanding of the party’s manifesto.

This, he said, would help to win them over and assure the NPP of resounding victory on December 7.

Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame, was inaugurating the party’s constituency youth wing at a rally at Suame.

Its 10-member executive is chaired by Mr Mustapha Owusu.

The MP accused the ruling National Democratic Congress of poor performance, which, he said had led to widespread economic suffering, rising cost of living and joblessness.

The NPP represents hope for the nation and cannot afford to disappoint the people in the pending general election.

He said the party’s Presidential Candidate, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, would provide strong and effective leadership to transform the economy and make things better for the population.

Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu insisted that the free senior high school promise is not just a campaign tool to win elections.

He asked the people to ignore the mischief and desperate attempts by the party’s political opponents to discredit it.

The Minority Leader appealed to the people to vote massively for the NPP to put the nation on the path to real development and wealth creation.

Nana Kofi Senyah, the assembly member for New Suame, commended the MP for his tremendous contribution to the development of the area.

Ketu South MP goes independent

The incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, Albert Zigah, has strongly indicated his plan to contest the seat as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.

Zigah lost to Deputy Finance Minister Fifi Kwetey during the NDC primaries for that Constituency.

Sharp divisions are coming between the leadership of the NDC in the Ketu South constituency as the incumbent goes independent to contest the deputy minister come December.

Hon Zigah alleged that even right after the primaries at Abgozume, Hon Kwetey and his campaign members had been attacking him.

A member of Hon Kwetey’s campaign team, Mr. John Jerry Dadegbe denied the allegation. He alleged that Hon Zigah was working with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on a strategy named “Operation reduce the votes” over an alleged 800 million old cedis that Hon Zigah said he had loaned to the party.

The Volta regional chairman of the NPP, Mr. Kwasi Aboagye said he heard Zigah was going independent but has not spoken to him to check since the primaries.

Two hospitals to be built during my next term – Joe Appiah

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Justice Joe Appiah says his vision and major preoccupation should he retain his seat will be to build two hospitals in the constituency to serve the health needs of the constituents.

According to him, the construction of a polyclinic in Darkuman and a hospital at Odorkor will to a large extent provide the people of Ablekuma North constituency with quality and efficient health care as the area currently lacks such health facilities.

Speaking on Adom FM, Hon. Joe Appiah emphasized his commitment to improving the living conditions of his constituents by ensuring they live healthy lives as bad health could erode all the gains acquired by an individual.

He said not only is he interested in getting adequate health infrastructure but also concerned with the poor water supply to Kwashiebu and is working feverishly with the authorities to restore constant water supply to the area.

Hon. expressed confidence of winning the upcoming December election as his good works and the development he has ensured in the area has endeared him to the constituents who have vowed vote him back to power to continue with his good works.
